Since 2014, JETAA Wellington has organised a community photo contest for people to show off their best photos of Japan. The photos are then displayed in the Japan Information & Cultural Centre (JICC) in Wellington, and voted on by the public. At the end of the contest, a small awards ceremony with food and drinks is held to announce the winners and present prizes.
Share your photos from Japan and win!
The contest is open to any amateur photographers who have been to Japan. You are open to interpret the categories however you would like.
You may submit one photo per category.
This year’s categories are:
- Pop Culture
- Postcards from JETs (this category is for current JET Programme participants)
Voting: Once entries close, 10 photos from each category will be selected for public display at the Japan Information & Cultural Centre. Public voting to decide the winners in each category will then open on Monday, 20 November 2017.
Prizes: The first place prize for each category is a canvas print of the winning photo, plus a $40 restaurant voucher. The second place prize for each category is a $30 restaurant voucher. The Postcards from JETs prize is a special Kiwi care package full of things from home.
Awards: Winners will be announced at a prize giving on the evening of Tuesday, 12 December 2017 at the JICC.
Please email questions you may have about the contest. In the meantime, check out past year’s entries and winners:
