JETAA Wellington Needs You!

JETAA Wellington’s events and resources are only possible thanks to the heroic efforts of the alumni volunteers that make up the committee. At this month’s AGM, we’ll be deciding who will fulfill the various roles needed to keep the committee going, so if you’re interested, feel free to reach out to us!

The roles are open to all JET alumni in the Wellington area and include:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Communications Manager
  • Events Coordinator
  • Taiyaki Machine Manager
  • JkaiWa Liaison

We’re also open to suggestions for new roles, so if you have a project you’d like to head up, tell us about it! For a bit more description of what the roles entail, read on!

Head of the organisation, coordinates the committee and chairs meetings. Represents JETAA Wellington at events when possible, and gives speeches when needed.

Vice President
Supports the President and provides back up. Helps out when needed and represents JETAA Wellington in the President’s absence.

Manages the e-mail account, directing correspondence to where it is most needed if they’re unable to come up with the answers themselves. Creates agendas and takes minutes at any meetings.

In charge of the finances, primarily applying for the Grant in Aid funding from CLAIR and reporting on yearly spending. Needs to collect receipts and record spending for each event.

Communications Manager
Looks after communications to the general membership, including social media, the website, and newsletters.

Events Coordinator
Takes charge of organising events that JETAA Wellington runs on an annual basis, making use of templates and processes that are already in place. Examples of events include Children’s Day, Tanabata, and the Photo Competiton.

JkaiWa Liaison
JETAA Wellington’s liaison for any JkaiWa related matters, aiming to be present at most events and have a hand in organising.

Taiyaki Manager
In charge of exploring opportunities for JETAA Wellington to make use of their Taiyaki machine, for fundraising or other uses. Will look at the feasibility of using the machine more regularly and any processes that we need to go through to make that happen.

Above all, JETAA is a good time with good folks who all share common experiences. Being a part of the JETAA committee gives you the chance to shape the experience for JET alumni in Wellington, and provide better and better things for our community. We’re looking forward to seeing and working with you in the year to come!
