Over the weekend of 18 May 2007 - 20 May 2007, three very successful days were held at the JICC for newly selected JETs.

On Friday, there was a day for newly selected JETs to meet each other, watch a video explaining JET Programme, find out about New Zealand Tax obligations and hear about travel arrangements for their upcoming trip to Japan.

Later in the afternoon, there was a JET Q&A where JETs had the opportunity to ask 4 panelists questions about The JET Programme and life in Japan.

This was followed by a delicious reception, held by the JICC which allowed newly selected JETs to mix with former JET participants, Embassy staff and other Japanese people living in Wellington.

On Saturday there was a Japanese Language course giving JETs with beginner level Japanese the opportunity to learn some Japanese which will hopefully make the transition from life in NZ to life in Japan a little easier.

On Sunday an ALT workshop was run by former JETs. Six JETs and one non-JET were kind enough to volunteer to each do a 20 minute workshop giving practical ideas about teaching and advice about life as an ALT.

We hope the newly selected JETs that participated in these events found them interesting and beneficial, and that they are excited about the prospect of living and working in Japan later this year.
