The AGM, or Annual General Meeting, is a key event for any JETAA chapter. It’s where members get together over dinner to review the past year, plan for the next, and decide on a new committee. This year’s JETAA Wellington AGM was held on Tuesday, 13th March at Origami restaurant on Cuba. We had a good turnout, enjoyed some tasty Japanese food, and discussed the year to come.
You can see more about how the past year went in our 2017 Year in Review post here. As for next year, we’re happy to announce the 2018-2019 JETAA Wellington committee:
President – Mark Dittmer
Vice-President – Seamus Brady
Secretary – Michael Roberts
Communications Manager – Steven Thompson
As you can tell if you have a keen eye or memory, this will mark the second year in those positions for the four hardworking volunteers. We thank them for all their continued efforts! Their nominations and votes were all unanimously agreed upon by those in attendance. We also wholeheartedly thank Hannah Lee, who served as Treasurer for a year and a half; Trees Neal, who served as Jkaiwa Liaison and helped at events right after coming back to Wellington; and Raewyn McGregor, who has served JETAA Wellington and Auckland in various roles over nearly 8 years!
However, there are still two important positions that are unfilled! We are looking for any Wellington JET alumni interested in the following roles:
- Jkaiwa Liaison
So please pass it on if you know someone who would be a great fit, or contact us if that someone is you! For details on those positions, see our previous post. We are also always open to any JET alumni who want to volunteer in a general capacity, or who would like to create a position to spearhead a project. With the Japan Festival returning to Wellington this year, there’ll be plenty to do!
Many thanks, and hope to see you at the next event!
